Njord Offshore takes delivery of two more crew transfer vessels with Volvo Penta IPS900 Quad



Gotenburg (Volvo Penta) - Njord Offshore’s two latest 26m offshore crew vessels (24 pax), equipped with Volvo Penta’s IPS900 Quad drives, are now ready for heavy-duty use in the North Sea.

After a successful year operating four new 26m crew transfer vessels (CTVs) fitted with Volvo Penta’s IPS900 Quad drives, Njord Offshore – which transports crew to and from offshore windfarms – has added another two new 24 pax vessels with the same propulsion system to its fleet. The UK company now has 15 CTVs of 21m and 26m in its fleet, and one of its latest vessels will be available for demonstration sea trials at Seawork International trade show in Southampton.

Monaco (lifePR) - At 18.30 on Saturday 26th September 2015 the horns from 121 Superyachts, that had sat sedately in Port Hercules for four days, voiced their appreciation, marking the end of another triumphant and undoubtedly successful Monaco Yacht Show.

With visitor numbers up yet again, this year by 1400 to 34,500, could it be a sign that in today's turbulent markets and intercontinental strife the demand for Superyachts, new and second hand, remains strong. Many factors have affected this year's summer cruising season and the demand for used vessels. Sales appear good, chartering is off the chart, possibly signified by the fleet – less numerous than in recent years - anchored off the port.

BWA Yachting opens new offices in Italy

Lugano ( BWA Yachting) - BWA Yachting, leading worldwide provider of marine agency services to superyacht owners and their crews, has announced the opening of new branch offices at ports around Italy. This is the most recent expansion of BWA Yachting’s presence in the Mediterranean, where the company already has a number of offices in Spain, France, Malta, Corsica, and Monaco. Spearheading the company’s effort to serve clients cruising the Italian waters is new managing director Caterina Oliviero, formerly of the Venice-based JLT Group.

The move comes in response to a proven demand for BWA Yachting’s services in Italy that is expected to grow. Italy offers some outstanding cruising locations with stunning scenery, such as the Aeolian Islands, Amalfi Coast, and the Riviera of Portofino. BWA Yachting’s chief executive Stefano Tositti says the decision to open Italian branch offices is a natural outgrowth of the strong client and partner base the company already enjoys in this part of the world.

Hong Kong (Genting) – Genting Hong Kong, a leading global leisure, entertainment and hospitality company, announced the completion of the acquisition of Nordic Yards’ three shipyards in Wismar, Warnemunde and Stralsund, Germany for the consideration of 230.6 million Euros. The deal will give Genting Hong Kong the core expertise, manpower, fabrication capacity and covered drydocks to build a global cruise fleet for its three brands - Crystal Cruises, The World's Most Awarded Luxury Cruise LineTM; Dream Cruises, Asia’s Most Luxury Cruise Line; and, Star Cruises, Asia’s Leading Cruise Line.

“We are pleased with the completion of the transaction as ownership of the yards provides certainty that we can build a fleet of high quality cruise ships at a pace dictated by our growth rather than constrained by supply as cruise ship order book continues to reach all-time highs, with orders placed as far out as 2026, ten years from now,” said Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Genting Hong Kong. “We will begin by building four Crystal river ships scheduled for delivery in 2017 and Crystal Endeavor, the first purpose-built polar class expedition megayacht, for delivery in 2018. Our goal is to grow the yard output to two Mega cruise ships and one mid-size cruise ship or megayacht a year within a decade, not only for our own fleet but also for other cruise lines and yacht owners.”
